A three-part documentary that explores the evolution and divisions within the gay community over the past decades: from LGB to LGBTQIA+, from describing sexual orientations outside heteronormativity to including an array of gender identities.

Gender identity politics have become a toxic battleground. The clash between transgender activists and radical feminists has been much in the news, but how it affects the LGBTQ+ community is an important discussion, not least because trans people are a part of that community.

Historically homosexuals were seen as sexual predators; brainwashing children; being gay was a mental illness, or just a phase. Are the same tropes now being aimed at trans people? And is gender identity changing the way we see homosexuality?

The last decade has seen an explosion of trans identifying teenagers: a reflection of a more progressive society or a contagion promoted by social media? And what does the future holds for gender questioning teenagers in view of the recent puberty blockers ban?

Led by guide and historian Mel Adams, the film explores all this and more, looking at our history and asking experts, commentators and ordinary LGBTQ+ people on both sides of the argument.
